Elon Musk is working with his team on his concept of super-fast travel around the planet with the help of the Starship rocket system and the SuperHeavy rocket. Meanwhile, the Japanese have similar plans.

Amazingly, the journey from New York to Shanghai, covering almost 12 thousand kilometers, will take less than 40 minutes! The cost of such a flight is to be very small, because all elements of the rocket are to be fully recovered and used repeatedly.

Meanwhile, engineers from the German Space Agency (DLR) and the Japanese Space Agency (JAXA) have very similar plans, who are intensively working on an enigmatic project called Hikari, also known as SpaceLiner darknethub.

The aircraft will be a two-module vertical take-off vehicle. The carrier module will be elevated to a height of 45-85 kilometers, which will have nine rocket engines built-in. Once it reaches a certain ceiling, the first stage will detach, fall to Earth and be used again, as is the case with the Falcon-9 rockets from SpaceX.

However, the ship itself, using two rocket engines, will accelerate to 30,000 km / h and quickly reach its intended goal. The creators predict that the flight from London to Sydney will last no more than 90 minutes.

SpaceLiner will not only be extremely fast, but also environmentally friendly. The vehicle is to be powered by liquid oxygen and hydrogen, so the combustion product is therefore only water vapor. But it is not everything.

The engineers calculated that the engines could be used up to 25 times, and the carrier and passenger module would be enough for as many as 150 take-offs and flights. The ship will also be fully autonomous, but on its board, for safety, there will be two pilots who will ensure the comfort of flight of 50 passengers, who value the opportunity to quickly move around the planet.

Despite the significant reduction in the operating costs of the machine, at the beginning the offer of fast travel between cities several thousand kilometers away from each other will be directed to people of the business world and also the operation of orbital installations.

Of course, with the development of technology and the increase in popularity of this type of travel, the price of tickets should drop significantly. The creators of SpaceLiner estimate that the construction of the prototype will cost up to 30 billion euros and will start no earlier than after 2040.
